Description

Description of ECS Bike Club:

The Spring 2025 Bike Club at ECS will focus on neighborhood riding and is open to beginner and intermediate riders.

ECS Bike Club adopts Bike PGH's youth cycling curriculum Positive Spin. Week 1 will be a review of Road Rules, Safety Signals, Bike Etiquette and a short group ride. Week 2-6 will be group rides around the parks and neighborhood near the Middle School.

Bikes and helmets will be provided. Please bring: their own helmet if they want(or we have plenty of nice helmets for students to use), water bottle, and a snack (nut-free please!). Parents will pick up students at the Middle School back parking lot.

Note: For those looking for advanced or any-level off-road riding, please consider attending the PA Interscholastic Cycling League's "Try-it" day on April 25 at the ECS Middle School and sign up for the inaugural Mountain Bike Team forming within the east end community, starting summer 2025 and going into fall 2025. Look out for communication on this or reach out to Laura Brienza <[email protected]> or Ryan Oelkers <[email protected]> for more information.

*Please read the following information and complete the steps below to be eligible for a "Reduced" or “Nominal” fee when registering for an OST (Out of School Time) club or sport for 2024-2025.

If your student does not qualify for a “Reduced” or “Nominal” fee but you also need financial assistance or have any other questions about activities/athletics, please email [email protected] or [email protected]

1. Determine your eligibility for a reduced sport/club fee or a nominal sport/club fee based on the "Child Nutrition Programs: Income Eligibility Guidelines (2024-2025)" info-graph below. If you have TANF or SNAP you may also qualify for a nominal fee.

2. If you take advantage of our nominal or reduced rates, note ECS will cross-reference your eligibility. If you are not eligible, you may not be able to participate in our clubs without submitting the fee. If you have any questions concerning your F&R status, please reach out to Niki Hutcherson, Food Service Director, at [email protected]

3. Sign in or sign up for Jumbula (by clicking the registration button below), and select your "Tuition" as either "Reduced" or "Nominal" based on the income guidelines.

How do students qualify for a nominal or reduced-price?
Students from families with incomes at or below 130% of the poverty level, and children in families receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and children in families receiving food stamp benefits are eligible for nominal priced sport/club fees. Students in families whose income is between 130% and 185% of the poverty level are eligible for reduced price sport/club fee.

For example, if you are a family of 4 and make $50,000 annually, you would qualify for a "Reduced Fee" under these guidelines; if you are a family of 4 and make $36,000 annually, you would qualify for a "Nominal Fee".
