Description

ECS Intermediate applied and was one of four schools in Allegheny County selected by the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust Arts Education to receive a Disney Musicals in Schools Program! This program develops sustainable musical theatre programs in public elementary schools.

Participating students and staff will receive training and guidance from two of the Pittsburgh Cultural Arts Education Teaching Artists! Through the 17-week program, the teaching artists will work with students and teachers, both crafting the school's musical, and training teachers to become directors, music directors, choreographers and stage managers, building a tradition of musical theater in their school.

Selected schools, such as ECS Intermediate, will then participate in a culminating Disney Musicals in Schools Student Share Celebration on May 26, 2025. At this event, each school will share selections from its production at Pittsburgh Cultural Trust's Byham Theater!

Program will run on Mons & Weds from January - May (with performances in May/June). Auditions for roles will be held in January. Program Start is Jan 13th and End Dates TBA.

Anticipated Roles for Students:

Leads (students who want to sing/act/dance by themselves)

Ensemble (students who like to sing but do not want to be front and center)

Dancers (If you just want to dance on stage)

Stage Crew (Working behind the scenes, set design, set production, managing props behind the stage, managing the curtain).

If you are interested in any aspect of these roles, please sign up.
For example: if you are interested in just Stage Crew, please sign up.

Everyone who's interested will still have some part in the production!

*Please read the following information and complete the steps below to be eligible for a "Reduced" or “Nominal” fee when registering for an OST (Out of School Time) club or sport for 2024-2025.

If your student does not qualify for a “Reduced” or “Nominal” fee but you also need financial assistance or have any other questions about activities/athletics, please email [email protected] or [email protected]

1. Determine your eligibility for a reduced sport/club fee or a nominal sport/club fee based on the "Child Nutrition Programs: Income Eligibility Guidelines (2024-2025)" info-graph below. If you have TANF or SNAP you may also qualify for a nominal fee.

2. If you take advantage of our nominal or reduced rates, note ECS will cross-reference your eligibility. If you are not eligible, you may not be able to participate in our clubs without submitting the fee. If you have any questions concerning your F&R status, please reach out to Niki Hutcherson, Food Service Director, at [email protected]

3. Sign in or sign up for Jumbula (by clicking the registration button below), and select your "Tuition" as either "Reduced" or "Nominal" based on the income guidelines.

How do students qualify for a nominal or reduced-price?
Students from families with incomes at or below 130% of the poverty level, and children in families receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and children in families receiving food stamp benefits are eligible for nominal priced sport/club fees. Students in families whose income is between 130% and 185% of the poverty level are eligible for reduced price sport/club fee.

For example, if you are a family of 4 and make $50,000 annually, you would qualify for a "Reduced Fee" under these guidelines; if you are a family of 4 and make $36,000 annually, you would qualify for a "Nominal Fee".
